The First Few Days

During the first few days after liposuction, swelling, bruising, and soreness are common. Compression garments are worn to reduce swelling and support healing. Some fluid drainage from incision sites may occur and is normal.

Light walking is encouraged, but rest remains the priority.

Week One

By the end of the first week, discomfort typically decreases significantly. Swelling and bruising are still present but begin to improve. Many patients return to desk work or light-duty jobs during this time.

Compression garments continue to be worn as directed.

Weeks Two to Three

Swelling continues to decrease, and early contour changes become noticeable. Bruising fades substantially. Light exercise and normal daily activities may resume with surgeon approval.

Some firmness or unevenness may be felt under the skin as tissues heal.

Weeks Four to Six

Most swelling has resolved, and results appear more defined. Compression garment use may be reduced or discontinued. Patients usually return to full exercise routines unless otherwise instructed.

Three Months and Beyond

Final results continue to refine over several months as residual swelling resolves and tissues fully settle. Fat removal is permanent, and results are long lasting when paired with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.
